Job Description and Key Responsibilities:
The R&D Department is currently seeking a Senior Scientist of Analytical Chemistry. This person will conduct complex scientific research to support development of product formulations and/or analytical methods that will directly contribute to the development of diagnostic platforms.

bullet Perform qualitative and quantitative testing and analysis of materials and processes.
bullet Develop, establish and validate analytical chemistry testing methodology used to control raw materials, production intermediates and final products.
bullet Provide technical leadership to support product and process development (including design, development, analysis, troubleshooting, etc).
bullet Translate customer / product requirements into design specifications.
bullet Responsible for general laboratory chemistry including "wet" chemistry (dissolution, pH, viscosity, etc.), UV-vis spectrophotometry, and analytical method development on HPLC and/or GC etc.
bullet Maintain, and continuously improve, the quality system and achieve quality objectives through daily actions.
bullet Interface with various departments and serve as internal consultant.
bullet Initiate, direct and execute all pre-clinical scientific research and/or development strategies in research and/or development.
bullet Investigate the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products and problems.
bullet Plan and execute laboratory research.
bullet Maintain broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
bullet May lead stand-alone projects or perform in collaboration with others, may participate in development of patent applications, and may act as spokesperson on corporate research and development and advise top management.
bullet Expected to make contributions to scientific literature and conferences.

bullet M.S. or Ph.D. in a biological or chemical science required.
bullet Minimum 6 years experience in scientific research and development required, with a minimum of 3 years experience in an industry setting preferred.
bullet Experience with surface chemistry analysis, especially as it applies to microfluidic systems development, preferred.
bullet Excellent presentation and team-building skills, self-motivation, and proven flexibility / ability to multi-task with attention to detail required.
bullet The successful candidate will have a strong desire to develop molecular diagnostic products utilizing novel chemistries and instrumentation.
bullet Significant accomplishments in patents/disclosures, technical publications and/or new product design and development.
